USA imposes a 25% tariff on aluminum imports from China
On September 13, 2024, the U.S. government announced, based on the "Four-Year Review of Section 301 Investigations: China's Laws, Policies and Practices on Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property and Innovation" jointly released by the Office of the United States Trade Representative and the Section 301 Committee, that on the basis of the original Section 301 tariffs on China, a series of "strategic products" such as some steel products, aluminum products, semiconductors, electric vehicles, lithium batteries, key minerals, solar cells, medical equipment, and port cranes imported from China will be subject to additional tariffs in stages (from 2024 to 2026).
This measure will affect goods worth $18 billion imported from China, including the following:
In 2024, the tariff rate on some aluminum products will be increased from 0-7.5% to 25%
